Click for Hearing Impaired videoThis website was designed to connect Volunteers in the San Antonio/Bexar County, Texas area with the San Antonio Area Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (SAVOAD) to provide volunteer opportunities during disaster activations.

During times of major disaster, the SAVOAD in coordination with the City of San Antonio and the Bexar County Offices of Emergency Management, activates the Volunteer Operation Center (VOC). The VOC serves as a One-Stop-Shop where volunteers come to receive badges, empowerment, training, and deployment assignments during major disasters like hurricanes.

The goal of the volunteer program of the Volunteer Operations Center (VOC) is best served by the active participation of citizens in the community. To this end, the VOC accepts and encourages the involvement of volunteers at all levels of the disaster response and within all appropriate programs and activities. All partnering organizations are encouraged to assist in the creation of meaningful and productive roles in which volunteers might serve during a disaster and to assist in the recruitment of such volunteers, either trained or spontaneous, from the community.
